Open Question: Double end bag or free standing reflex bag?
and Open Question: What are some great fights from the 80's which rarely or never receives much discussion?  We all love the great 80′s of boxing because there were so many great and exciting fights to choose from. Hagler-Hearns was a WAR which still gets talked about til this very day. Duran-Barkley was an inspirational fight which showed a 37-year old Duran duking it out and fighting his very best to lift the WBC middleweight title off of the younger Barkley and even flooring him in the eleventh round en route to a split decision win. Of course, let’s not forget the Baddest Man on the Planet who dominated the Heavyweight division from 86-90 until his shocking upset loss to Buster Douglas in Tokyo, Japan. (We at the Yahoo forum will never hear the end of Who would win between Tyson or Ali). But there are great fights which gets overlooked during this time despite being thrilling, action packed fights. Some of my favorites are the Chacon-Boza Edwards wars and Roger Mayweather vs. Harold Brazier. Those were some great, exciting fights. So what great fights from the 80′s rarely or never gets much of a discussion?, more

Open Question: Will it be easy for Floyd Mayweather Jr to clean up and retire the P4P best again?  I think the Pretty Boy can come back & sweep up some un finished business and retire again.
There is nobody out there that is a serious threat to a Mayweather Jr that is still in his prime., more
and Open Question: How do you find your ideal fighting weight?  Im doing sport specific weight training to develop my punching power and strength in the clinch and to get some basic body armour to asorb punches. Im obviously avoiding any bodybuilding techniques as these are not desired for an athlete however I put on muscle very quick my weight is increasing as is my general strength to weight ratio which I keep a close eye on. My question is how do you find your ideal fighting weight is it better to cut to get into a weight division that you are borderline too heavy for or put on muscle to keep in the higher range of your natural weight division? How do you know what your natural weight division is because im putting on muscular weight fast from the training and I havnt finished growing yet?!
Best regards!, more

How many hours or days are the weigh ins before the fight? I know in most MMA its 24 hours, but those guys don’t cut as low as boxers., more
and Open Question: What entrance music did Hector Camacho use against Oscar De La Hoya?  This is the bout where he came dressed as a bird (or something… his outfits were always among the weirdest things in the sport) in the bout right after he permanently retired Sugar Ray Leonard.
No one seems to know that I have asked.

Open Question: Lewis-Tyson Fight memorabilia question, please?  Hello, I bought a Lewis-Tyson banner at a yard sale. It hung in downtown Memphis promoting the fight. It’s in really good shape and I think is made of some sort of heavy vinyl. I was told that there were only about 30 of them. I don’t know if that is true. It’s about 2′ by 5′. What I’d like to know is how one finds out the value of such things. Can someone please point me in the right direction ? Thank-you, olewoman, more

Open Question: I have never boxed before, but I want to start. Tips?

I’m about 155 pounds and 5′ 7″.. female. I’m not in great shape but I’m getting there.
I am a pretty competitive person and am very interested in taking up boxing.
I know nobody is going to take me seriously at first, but I am very determined.. but do you have any tips for someone just beginning?
I’m not 100% positive that boxing is my sport, but I really want to give it a try!
I’m 20 years old.. do you think I’m too old to begin in this sport? I know most people start younger.. :\, more

and Open Question: female kickboxing….need some advice please!?  Hi, I’m considering joining a gym and training in kickboxing (competitive not aerobic). I am a very fit 22 year old female…my only concern is I am really tiny. I am about 4’11″ and under 100lbs. I’m worried that I’ll always be at a disadvantage for how small I am, especially if I do eventually compete in the ring. Should i worry about that? I have always been athletic, very fast, and have a competitive focused drive, but haven’t really done much in the last few years. I want to do this for many reasons. Any advice or personal experience would be greatly appreciated! thanks!, more
and Open Question: Could this boxer know my friend's secret?  I have a friend who is amazing at martial arts. He have black belt in Tae Kwon Do, karate, and Tsung Doo and he have done Kung Fu for many years and did a lot of special training like iron fists, iron shirt, and all kind of crazy things.
He have gave people bat to hit him on chest or stomach or arms and it didnt affect him, he can stand in cold water for a while and other things.
But he was offended by this guy who is a boxer. The boxer didn’t want to train with him, never take him seriously, or anything. So one day my friend told him that boxing is just a sport and useless. He laughed at my friend. So my friend offered him a chance to test his skill. He says that boxer are so predictable and simple and that he would never be able to hit my friend. So they agreed to do a spar.
Last night we all meet in parking lot. My friend offered the boxer to try hit him, the boxer managed to landed a couple punches but my friend got mad because the boxer wasn’t into it. So he pushed the boxer and say it won’t work if boxer didnt try to hit for real. So the boxer hit him a couple time. I was shocked, my friend’s head got thrown back hard with every punches before he fell down. My friend got mad and got up and say it is on and got in a stance. The boxer quickly kick him right in the thigh, knocking my friend down then steps back and tell him it is over. My friend didnt want to stop so he got up and kicks boxer in the crotch. The boxer goes crazy and beats on him badly and kicks and knees him a couple time. By end of this, people come in to stop it because my friend was hurt badly.
My friend need to go to hospital. He have a fractured eye orbit, cheek bone, four fractured ribs, and bruised liver. I asked my friend what happened, he says he was going easy on the boxer because if he didnt, he’d kill or maim the boxer.
I don’t know what to make of this. I mean he can take all kind of damages and walk away fine, but when it come to fight, a sport player seems to really hurt him badly. Do this boxer somehow know my friend’s secret and counter it or something?, more

and Open Question: Pound for pound #1 post May 2nd?  Hatton consistently talks about becoming p4p #1 if he beats Pacquiao in May. In your opinion, can the mythical title be won and lost like a traditional belt so easily from fight to fight? Will Hatton really become p4p number one (if he wins)? or will he simply displace the current holder to let another fighter fill the vacuum?
In short, can the title be won, or does it have to be acquired?
Also, who do you think will be considered p4p champ come May 3rd?, more
and Open Question: Whats wrong with me?????????  Hey guys , my problem is … i just LOVE fighting. I enjoy the adrenalin rush, and just pounding people. Im not really a person that will start a fight, so i wont go bullying people into fighting me, but like if anyone seems to be asking it, yeah, ill fight them, no problem. I’ve tried boxing , but the adrenalin rush from it really died out for me , and i dont relaly enjoy it anymore. I was thinking of taking up MMA (Mixed Martial Arts), maybe that would work., more

and Open Question: Amateur Boxing, please help?  Basically i’m 15, nearly 16 and i’ve been to a couple of amateur boxing training sessions with a couple of mates of mine who’ve been doing it a while. I really enjoy it, and love the fitness aspects as well as learning the technique behind boxing.
However my parents are completely against it, i’ve tried telling them that it will keep me fit and build my self-confidence, but they keep saying that they’re not going to let me participate as they reckon i’m gonna get brain damage. I’m relatively intelligent and looking to go into a career in medicine, and they think that somehow i’m going to become as dumb as mike tyson just by attending the training sessions and sparring.
I have no intention of getting into the whole fighting thing (bouts, competitions etc.) as i just don’t think i’d enjoy it, but i really want to learn how to defend myself, and keep fit. It seems my parents are okay with the keeping fit part, but as soon as i mention sparring they instantly say i can’t go.
So what can i do to convince them that i’m not going to get brain damage simply by sparring at training, and convince them to let me go.
Any help with this would be great
cheerz

Open Question: Requirment for greatness?

if you could what guidlines would you use for a boxer to be on a hall of fame ballot. What would they have to at least had just to be able to be in consideration?, more
and Open Question: Should I fight this guy at my school?  Today in gym we were playing basketball, my best sport and my favorite. We were playing 3 on 3′s and this guy that we had to play told me that I suck. He told me that I suck because I was calling fouls. (I know all the rules that there is to basketball). I was just trying to make the game far and call it down right.
So he tells me that I suck, but he honestly thinks that I’m better than most of the class. Then he says that his friend, Mark, can beat me. This was all such a shock to me, I couldn’t believe my ears, that this kid was telling me all of this shit.
It’s obvious that I don’t suck, cause I play on the team and he doesn’t. But it got me really mad. Like REALLY MAD. And I was just thinking about it all day. And I think I want to fight him, should I do it, or just let it go? My idiot friend already told him that I want to fight him, and the guy thinks that I don’t have it in me to fight him.
Do I have much of a choice?, more
and Open Question: Betting for Hatton vs. Manny Pacquaio?  I am going to bet on the fight but still thinking of what to bet
Looking at coral Hatton to winis at 7/4 and Manny at 4/9
If betting on hatton to win i would get 110 from betting £40
With manny on £56 from a 40 pound bet
I think manny to win is 65% likely but on the odds its not worth betting unless betting on manny by round or decision
What would you say is a good bet for this match?, more

and Open Question: Can anyone help me find the hand wraps that I saw once for kickboxing?  I guess they were like the Mexican ones, but they were of a different material. It was stretchy and squishy. That’s the only word I can use to describe it. It fit perfectly around your hand and didn’t leave gaps or anything. I don’t know the name of the material, but I would love to find them. They seemed like they were more comfortable then cotton. Please help., more
